讲座人简介：
Derek Wang is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Operations Management at Desautels Faculty of Management, McGill University. He received a Ph.D. in Operations Management from University of Michigan in 2012, and a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Tsinghua University. In 2010, he worked at Schlumberger-Doll Research Center as a research associate. His research focuses on energy operations and sustainable operations, including the optimization, valuation and risk management for conventional and renewable resources.
Abstract:
Mounting awareness and pressure of climate change are making carbon abatement investment increasingly important for firms today. Typically firms invest in multiple abatement technologies. Different abatement technologies impact the firms’ costs and operations in different ways. Using data from U.S. companies in 2011-2013, we investigate empirically how the firms’ management practices shape their carbon abatement technology portfolios. We next show how the abatement technology portfolios affect the firms' operational and market performances.
