Supply Chain Transformation of a Large Supermarket
Chain – Insights from a Large Single Case Study
摘 要:This talk will share with the participants the experiences and insights from a multiple year industry and academic collaboration study of a large retail supermarket chain in Taiwan. The study needed to capture in a faster speed the problems raised by the retailer and proposed a strategic direction (which of course is based on the researcher’s academic instinct derived from his knowledge base) to gain the recognition by the top management before a substantive and in-depth strategic and feasibility study that can support and justify the next stage large scale cross docking supply chain transformation efforts and investment decisions. Various interesting research issues must be tackled along with the operational planning and implementation of the supply chain transformation project. It is also found that the initial operational plans with little time for a formal business analytics study (or was called an optimization study in the old days)before implementation can be improved substantially through a formal business analytics study. This study also demonstrates a single case study with a problem solving orientation, i.e. design science approach, can be rich in terms of the research issues and methodological choices (both qualitative and quantitative methods). To conclude, “Without practice, there is no place for theory; without theory, there is no progress for practice.”
主讲人简介：
苏雄义教授为台湾从事企业程序管理、物流管理、流通管理、供应链管理、组织与流程变革教学与研究的知名学者，现任职东吴大学企业管理学系所专任教授。苏教授研究兴趣极广，具多年企业顾问经历，相关研究与顾问经历包含企业流通系统规划与再造、空运物流策略规划、自由贸易区研究、全球运筹环境分析、大中华区物流产业发展、工商设施选址评估、物流组织与营运策略研究、顾客服务调查与规划、物流成本分析、运输配送系统规划、货运产业调查与分析、物流作业生产力提升、仓储设施规划、物流整合方案评估、物流管理软件项目等。苏教授在企业管理重要学术期刊如International Journal of Physical Distribution & Logistics Management, Transportation Journal, Journal of Management Policy and Practice, Renewable Energy: An International Journal等发表研究成果。一般工商报纸与杂志亦常见苏教授对物流与供应链新知的著述与介绍。
