Synchromodality from a supply chain perspective

摘 要:
We propose a novel concept called synchromodality from a supply chain perspective (SSCP) to support shippers implement synchromodality and increase the share of rail transport by quantifying the impact of synchromodality on firms’ inventory and service levels. The concept is further illustrated by an extended dual-sourcing inventory model. We propose an approximate analytic solution that captures the key drivers and characteristics of the SSCP modal. Using data from a fast moving consumer goods firm, we find that with only a marginal increase in inventory, it is possible for firms to significantly increase the share of rail transport without increasing total costs or reducing service level.
主讲人简介：
Chuanwen Dong is currently a post-doc in supply chain digitalization. He has worked for Sinotrans in Germany, and Procter & Gamble in Belgium before.
Chuanwen has expertise in logistics and supply chain modeling, quantitative analysis, and practical implementation,with particular interest in sustainable supply chain management, and bridging the gap between theory and practice.
